Figure 1 shows a schematic that, from the data of a 3D digital model, the printer manufactures the model layer upon layer. FFF uses a roll of thermoplastic polymer filament as raw material. The filament then passes through an extrusion head with a thermoelectric heating element that melts the filament. Finally, the melted filament is deposited and solidified through a nozzle on the platform.
